Q-Does acupuncture hurt?
A-In Chinese, acupuncture is referred to as bu tong, or painless. You may feel little or no discomfort as the needles are inserted as the process is typically painless. You may also feel a second different sensation with the arrival of energy at the tip of the needle (which may feel achy, distending, warm, electric...each person has a unique experience). Generally most people feel a tingling, heaviness, pressure or a slight electrical sensation.
These energetic sensations differ from pain. People often comment that the feeling is unfamiliar but pleasant and comforting.
Q-What is acupressure?
